New information technologies like multimedia, virtual reality, and GIS are enhanced within the framework of decision support systems through the display of graphic information, which allows rapid, integrated assessment of a very large (or infinite) variety of possible decision strategies. Moreover, new technique described in the paper helps decision makers to select a small number of strategies and to subject them to further detailed exploration and what-if analysis. The approach is based on the . and is exemplified with the real-life DSS for water quality planning.
